About Serverless Compute at Scaleway

Scaleway is the leading European cloud provider in serverless technology, offering an unmatched range of compute and database products. The Serverless Compute team is one of several teams at Scaleway building serverless products, and is responsible for Serverless Functions, Serverless Containers, and Serverless Jobs.

Serverless prioritizes ease and efficiency by automatically configuring and scaling shared infrastructure. Serverless Functions and Containers allow users to run code or container images on demand, scaling infrastructure to meet demand and billing only for consumption. Serverless Jobs enable users to run one-off or scheduled batch jobs using container images, provisioning necessary resources and billing only for consumption.

These products operate on shared Kubernetes clusters, with security, stability, and performance being key engineering challenges. We use container hardening technologies like gVisor and Kata Containers for multi-tenancy and utilize various Scaleway products for system operation and monitoring. We also maintain open-source libraries, integrations, and examples to support users.

As Engineering Manager for Serverless Compute, you need expertise in building and scaling distributed systems, particularly in redundancy and autoscaling. Knowledge of the serverless landscape and its future direction is crucial. Although serverless is relatively new, we are defining its future and expanding our product offerings.
