Why You’ll Love This Position

This is a Quality Control Specialist position that is responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of quality assurance and testing of the MACSS application across multiple environments. Focus is on the design and development of test scripts; conducts pre- and post-implementation testing, creates test plans, and creates processes for defect tracking. Gains an understanding of user requirements and reviews requirement specifications. Coordinates user acceptance in accordance with the specifications established. Conducts load testing and regression testing. Liaises with other information technology (IT) functions and vendors to ensure that effective quality assurance processes are maintained and utilized. Provides complex technical support in quality assurance, control, and testing techniques and protocols. May serve as project lead, provide technical direction, and mentor less experienced staff.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS).

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive test strategy for the MACSS project.
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of testing effort.
  • Refine and document MACSS testing methodology/strategy.
  • Provides test estimates and schedules.
  • Coordinate the requests and scheduling of the test environments.
  • Coordinate the creation of all testing deliverables, including test cases.
  • Ensures resolution of testing issues.
  • Identify/develop/provide test related training needs.
  • Provide feedback on testability of business requirements.
  • Monitor and control the test execution and defect resolution.
  • Report and analyze test results, log all issues or anomalies during test activities.
  • Log defects in the JIRA (bug reporting system). Track and follow-up defects.
  • Provide testing status/reports.
  • Successful verification of resolved issues raised in JIRA system.
  • Perform research and analysis on strategic testing efforts.
  • Provide testing strategy and direction by coaching throughout the project life cycle.
  • Candidate should be skilled in gathering and interpreting data and providing recommendations.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing testing methodologies/strategies for both mainframe and web-based applications.
  • Ability to follow development support methodologies consistent with ITSD-DSS standards and various levels of complexity regarding analysis, design, and data management/testing.
  • Ability to quickly gain an overall understanding of the Missouri Child Support business processes and systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Should be self-motivated with significant analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of IT experience with emphasis in quality assurance, control, and testing. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
