Lead Music Designer

PlayStation Studios Creative Arts - Music is looking for a Lead Music Designer. In this role, you will support an innovative, award-winning team dedicated to producing top-notch interactive music.

The Lead Music Designer will handle music editing, technical implementation, and music production support for the Creative Arts Music team, working with Sony’s global game development partners and marketing teams.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in music production, audio middleware, and game development workflows, with a focus on audio and music implementation throughout the production process.

Responsibilities:
● Music System Design: Influence the overall project strategy related to music system design. Present the vision and progress of the music system design to external and internal leadership teams.
● Music Editing: Edit and create assets that align with the music system design.
● Music Implementation: Direct implementation methods and strategies across multiple projects with music designers at various locations. Participate in discussions and influence music implementation strategies and technology development across PlayStation Studios.
● Asset Management: Develop asset management processes for internal and external teams. Drive fundamental changes in asset management and execution through new technology or processes.
● Tools & Technical Proficiency: Work across PlayStation Studios to influence tools and systems.
● Communication: Represent Creative Arts Music within the studio leadership structure. Seek out new ideas and discoveries within the music design discipline and communicate these to the music team. Manage creative reviews and planning meetings effectively, achieving excellence in communication.
● Score Production: Manage recording sessions and communicate with the composer and creative director.
● Recording & Production: Manage budget planning and legal approval processes for recording sessions and externally sourced assets. Contribute to the PlayStation Studios global audio community by sharing assets, techniques, and planning processes.
● Process & Planning: Contribute to production planning best practices. Build good working relationships with senior management and external partners. Collaborate with leaders from other groups outside the music team, such as Marketing or Tools & Tech. 

Education & Experience

● Expert knowledge of commonly used interactive audio tools and digital audio workstations, particularly Wwise and Pro Tools.
● Thorough understanding of various techniques for implementing game audio and the associated technical demands.
● Minimum of five years of industry experience in video game music production with multiple published titles. ● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience/skillset.

Skills:
● Comprehensive understanding of project schedules and milestone documentation.
● Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
● Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, and bug-tracking databases.
● Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written.
● Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with outstanding interpersonal and facilitation skills.

Industry:
● Knowledgeable of current industry trends and up-to-date on competitive products and standard methodologies.
● Passionate about games and dedicated to creating them.
