What’s the role?
The Seller Platform team is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to contribute to the seller platform, especially the OpenAPI. The OpenAPI is used by third party developers to provide sellers with additional specialized services beyond what is available on Etsy’s platform. It comes with unique development, release and scaling challenges. Our team is distributed between the US and Mexico.
As a Software Engineer II, you will work within guidelines set by your teammates to independently tackle well-scoped problems, regularly deliver work to end users and be a primary contributor to your team's goals. You will work on features and projects within a broader system.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager, Seller Experience. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. The Seller Platform team collaborates closely with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to develop unique solutions to help sellers better run their businesses and remain competitive.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Be responsible for the quality of what you build, using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your code.
Collaborate with our cross-functional teams and business partners across Etsy.
Contribute at all levels of our tech stack, with a focus on the technologies that power the OpenAPI.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
Have at least 2 years of software engineering experience
Write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability and scalability
Experience with PHP, OAuth and API frameworks
Be invested in Etsy’s vision, mission and values
