Job description

Head of People & Talent

  • Salary range: $140k – $180k

  • Equity: 0.05% - 0.25%

Summary

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of People & Talent to join us and shape the future of our organization as the leader of our People function. In this transformative role, you will be instrumental in implementing effective people strategies, fostering a positive work culture, and attracting and retaining top talent as Squint continues to grow.

As the leader of our People function, you will join a fast-growing company with a fun, hard-working, customer-centric culture. As a fully-remote company (our team spans across 8 states + Canada), we face exciting and unique challenges for you to tackle. This role will report directly to the Founder and CEO.

About you:

  • You have 7+ years of experience in people roles at high-performing and venture-backed tech startups, with a deep understanding of this industry's unique challenges and opportunities.

  • You've played a pivotal role in scaling organizations, particularly in Series B+ stages. You know what good looks like and are able to quickly put in place the basic foundations.

  • You’re detail-oriented, yet fast-paced; you’re able to hold a high bar for work while still making quick decisions without all the data.

  • Your expertise in compensation programs and benefits ensures that our employees are recognized and rewarded appropriately.

  • You understand what it takes to attract, recruit, and retain highly skilled individuals in competitive markets.

  • You can help foster a culture where we drive high performance and accountability throughout the organization.

  • Operationalizing people-centric programs and systems is second nature to you, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

  • You are excited to enable leadership development for our management team and ensure Squint’s leadership scales as it grows too.

Key responsibilities:

  • Streamline people operations, taking into account what exists and has been created to-date but upgrading and replacing existing systems and processes where necessary.

  • Help us continue to attract and retain world-class talent as we scale more rapidly than we have before.

  • Define and communicate effective strategies for compensation, levels, and benefits in order to enable better talent acquisition, management, and retention.

  • Be a part of organizational planning, providing insights on roles and budgets.

  • Be a thought partner with the founding team and help scale our culture and values as the business continues to grow.

  • Engage cross-functionally with the management team to align goals, strategies, and best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, taking advantage of the tools we have today. We use Rippling as our HRIS today. We have employees in 8 states as part of our US entity, we also have a Canadian subsidiary for our Canadian employees.

  • Find ways to innovate and question the status quo as Squint grows, never settling for “that’s just the way things are supposed to be.”

A final note

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Squint is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds without regard to race, gender, age, or any other protected characteristic. We encourage you to apply even if you're not quite sure you fit all the requirements for the role!
