Overview of Role

Climb is seeking an energetic, experienced consumer credit policy owner eager to take ownership for organizing, implementing, and managing our Policies and Procedures covering the underwriting of our student loans. Reporting to the CEO, this Director will play a critical role in supporting the strategic growth and innovation in our loan product, working closely with stakeholders from nearly every team within Climb and managing a small team of credit and data contributors.


Responsibilities

As part of the Climb Credit team, you will:

  • Own loan portfolio performance and monitoring and present results in a monthly Credit Committee meeting
  • Manage the relationship with our external machine learning model development team/vendor
  • Manage the internal team members who develop, maintain and monitor loss forecasting and IRR/Cash flow models.
  • Direct and document the credit policy change process, including clearly defined change management cadences and timelines, and communicate the process with all constituents.
  • Direct the review of credit policy trends, makes recommendations for adjustments, updates credit programs and policies, and ensures timely communication on the status of credit policies and procedure changes.
  • Facilitate training to ensure Revenue teams understand credit policy provisions and changes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Climb’s product suite in order to monitor performance and make recommendations by product, channel and other key drivers of performance.
  • New Product Development: Research competitive landscape and market opportunities to build credit policy for new business segments and products



Your Background and Skills

Key Skills for the Position:

  • Consumer Credit Knowledge -- Experience developing policies related to lending to consumers, with familiarity of related concepts (FICO, DTI, etc.) and regulatory matters (high level). Experience with underwriting model development, financial modeling, and loss forecasting. Data Science experience and data mining capabilities are required in this position.

Key Measures of Success in the Role:

  • Exert leadership and ownership of the consumer credit underwriting process, planning, and strategy in collaboration with product, capital markets, and compliance teams.
  • Centralize, organize, and streamline the credit policy documentation and guidelines so that production and credit employees can effectively do their job.


Your Background and Skills:

  • 5+ years in a consumer credit policy role with a fintech, private lender, bank, or similar institution.
  • Technical writing, training and communication experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex topics.
  • Strong organization and process skills.
  • Strong collaboration and change management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience preferred
