JOB SUMMARY:

The Registry Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for completing quality reviews on cancer registry abstracts completed by current colleagues, new hires, and new clients for the CCRS Division under the direction of the Supervisor, Registry QA. This individual will also perform other quality assurance related activities and may also be called upon to perform billable quality reviews for clients.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with clients as needed.
  • Completes all assigned reviews for current colleagues, new hires, and clients.
  • Obtains access to facility records and abstracts, including remote access when appropriate.
  • Performs representative selection of cases for reviews.
  • Enters review results in appropriate reporting tools.
  • Reports review results to Registry Operational Leaders and Abstractors as appropriate for the assignment.
  • Responds to review rebuttal.
  • May be called upon to assist in training CCRS Registry Abstractor or Technicians in use of client medical record and cancer registry software when Savista operational leaders do not have access.
  • Responds to client, colleague, and operational leaders’ questions concerning the QA process.
  • Participates in required conference calls and meetings.
  • Assists in maintaining the CCRS QA Forum to answer colleague questions regarding abstracting guidelines or application.
  • Attends educational conferences as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintains certification and NCRA membership, as well as appropriate state association memberships.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Cancer Tumor Registrar certification
  • 3+ years relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge of current and former cancer registry standard setter guidelines, including but not limited to the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual 8 Edition, ICD-O 3 Edition and Histology Revisions, Grade Manual, NCCN Guidelines, SEER Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Neoplasm Database and Manual, SEER Program Coding and Staging Manual, SEER Rx, SEER Summary Stage 2018, Solid Tumor Rules, SSDI Manual and Schemas, and STORE Manual.
  • Knowledge of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries Data Standards and Data Dictionary.
  • Commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current and changing abstracting guidelines.
  • Experience with multiple cancer registry software systems and electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings including with clients, colleagues and partners.
  • Computer knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

SKILLS:

Language and Reasoning

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, providers and other customers.
  • Ability to apply common sense and basic logic skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Savista is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $50,920.00 to $72,160.00. However, specific compensation for the role will vary within the above range based on many factors including but not limited to geographic location, candidate experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
