About the Team/Role :
We are seeking a highly motivated, technically adept, and experienced tech lead to join and design, develop, and manage BI applications and solutions; and lead a team of high-performing engineers within our Data Technology organization. This role is crucial in shaping the future of our applications, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our data systems. You will play a pivotal role in building a modern data platform designed to provide integrated, high-quality, rich, timely, and user-friendly data to support WEX's business growth. AI enablement with data is a key imperative for us, and our vision is to transform big data into big value for WEX and its customers through innovation, excellence, and partnership.
The Senior Tech Lead - BI Applications will report to the Director of Data Platform Engineering. An ideal candidate for this position will have proven experience in application management, with a core focus on BI applications/solutions development and management as well as user enablement. You should have an established background in implementing and managing BI applications in large organizations serving diverse lines of business with significant business impacts. Demonstrated ability to lead and build strong, productive teams, excellent project management skills, and outstanding communication skills are essential. How you’ll make an impact:
Lead a group of high-performing engineers within the Data Technology organization.
Provide training and support to users and developers, ensuring they understand key components and capabilities of BI tools.
Propose the right tools and solutions based on an in-depth understanding of business requirements and BI tool functionalities. Lead the team on designing the overall BI solutions leveraging the most appropriate tools for Wex’s business and customer needs.
Ensure the scalability, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of our BI applications .
Administer, configure, and customize BI tools to meet organizational needs.
Leverage application-provided APIs/SDKs or external tools to automate and optimize BI processes.
Manage content lifecycle, including version control, archiving, and deletion of outdated or redundant content.
Ensure efficient content management practices to maintain an organized and accessible BI environment.
Ensure secure access to BI tools, implementing robust data security measures. Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory data security standards.
Standardize management practices across instances of BI applications, including user management, capacity planning, content management, observability, and monitoring.
Reduce management overhead by implementing consistent and streamlined processes with a high degree of automation.
Manage relationships with BI tool vendors to stay updated on new features and enhancements.
Collaborate with vendors to enable product delivery and address any technical issues.
Implement and manage capacity planning to ensure optimal performance of BI tools.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Ensure that BI tool implementations adhere to network and data security best practices.
Regularly review and update security protocols to protect data integrity and privacy.
Utilize knowledge of BI tools to enhance the organization’s BI capabilities.
Experience you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
Proven track record with at least 7+ years of experience in Applications development and management
3+ years of experience in a tech lead role, managing and scaling engineering teams.
Experience in managing applications in High trust/PCI compliant cloud data platform
Proficiency in leveraging APIs/SDKs and external tools for automation and optimization.
Strong understanding of content lifecycle management practices.
Extensive experience with data security and secure access protocols including integration with IAM/IDP
Rich experience in software development is essential for this role, with proficiency in technologies and programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
Ability to standardize management practices across multiple BI instances.
Excellent vendor relationship management skills.
Experience with capacity management and disaster recovery planning.
Expertise in network and data security.
While not mandatory, prior experience with implementing and managing Thoughtspot is highly desirable.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
