The Network Engineer is responsible for architecting technical solutions for networking environments while providing technical leadership on implementing and achieving those solutions within the Network team. This position provides expertise on engineering solutions via planning, advising, analyzing, designing, testing, and managing highly complex environments. The Network Engineer also researches and employs appropriate emerging technologies to architect networking solutions. The Engineer supports the network and associated environments 7x24-365 operations on a global team of network engineers when required.
MINIMUM EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires a minimum of three years of experience as a Network Engineer.
- Documented experience with the following technologies required: Cisco On-Prem and Cloud Routing & Switching, Wireless, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IPSEC, ACI, VPN, DMVPN, SD-WAN, and NAC
- Some project management experience, familiar with Agile in an enterprise environment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
- Five or more year of experience in lieu of formal educational requirements
- Advanced degree does not impact required minimum time of professional experience
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (Certification must be currently valid/active)
- Quantity of certifications does not impact minimum time of professional experience
- ITIL Foundations level certification
- Certification requirement may be waived with one year of documented experience working in an ITIL service environment
PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA – Any discipline)
- Active CCNA may decrease minimum time of professional experience requirement
- Cisco DevNet Associate or Professional
- May decrease minimum time of professional experience requirement
- ITIL v4 Specialist, Strategist, Leader, or Manager certification
- Bilingual/Multilingual highly preferred
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Designing and planning new networks
- Identifying client or employer needs
- Training and mentoring network engineers
- Maintaining existing networks
- Troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Enhancing existing infrastructure
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Maintain network security measures, such as firewalls
- Define network access rights
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures
- Recommend new technologies to enhance performance
- Author system configuration documents for on-going reference
ADDITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Comfortable working in global, cross-cultural environments
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco Systems’ network and datacenter solutions portfolio
- Ability to accept afterhours calls for support and/or guidance, including “on-call”
- This is an “on-site” position and candidate must be comfortable with commute distance to Atlanta corporate office – remote working opportunities may be made available
- Proficient with developing publications, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations
