Job description

Conversant Group is a mission based Global IT infrastructure and security consulting company founded in 2009 and based in Chattanooga, TN. We are the world’s first Civilian Cybersecurity Force, dedicated to defeating cyber terrorists. To do so, Conversant Group is organized into three battalions: Athena7, which provides infrastructure assessment, strategy, and remediation; Grypho5, which offers ongoing managed protection; and Fenix24, which provides rapid restoration in case of a cyberattack.
Securitas Summa—security above all else—is our mantra, and at Conversant Group, we help organizations optimize the efficiency of their IT operations with security always at the forefront. Since 2009, Conversant Group has helped more than 500 customers understand their security posture, address their vulnerabilities and threats, actively defend against those threats, and restore operations following a breach (should one unfortunately occur). We are growing exponentially and are looking for A Players to change the face of security.

About This Position
At Conversant Group, we’re not just rewriting the playbook on cybersecurity—we’re tearing it up and starting fresh. As our Assessment Lead, you’ll be in the driver’s seat, managing Conversant Group’s proprietary security and resiliency assessments from start to finish. If you’re passionate about making a difference, about changing how companies understand, evaluate, and remediate risk—if you’re a consultative, technical myth-buster driven to save jobs and make the world a safer place—then Athena7 is where you need to be.

You’ll be on the frontlines, working directly with clients and our elite team of SMEs. Leading kick-off meetings, overseeing the entire assessment process, and delivering reports that don’t just point out risks—they map out the steps to harden defenses. Our hands-on approach means you’ll carry out detailed “shoulder-surfing” sessions, getting into the nitty-gritty of clients’ technical setups, examining real technical dashboards, controls, and configurations, and transforming this data into clear, actionable insights.
Like us, you reject cookie-cutter solutions. We’re on the hunt for an Assessment Lead who is ready to change how clients think about their risks and security strategies in a meaningful way. As a key player on the Conversant Group team, you’ll access the latest, highly confidential threat actor tactics through our Fenix24 battalion—the largest ransomware restoration firm in the world—and share them with clients, whether they’re ready to hear it or not. You’ll turn this insider knowledge into strategic gold for security-minded companies, both large and small.

This client-facing position demands strong verbal and written communication skills. You’ll be presenting to everyone from technical experts to executive leadership. Your deep understanding of IT infrastructure, along with a grasp of cybersecurity principles and data resiliency models, will be crucial.  This position is a remotely based position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Multiple, Concurrent Assessments: Manage assessments for clients across various industries and sizes, from pre-Sales interactions to final Delivery.
  • Client Interaction and Communications: Handle communications throughout the assessment process, ensuring clear and effective interactions.
  • Kick-Off Meetings: Lead initial meetings with clients to set expectations and outline the assessment process.
  • Process Management: Coordinate efforts between clients and internal SMEs, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Finding Analysis: Determine, score, and prioritize findings in collaboration with SMEs, developing themes and recommendations.
  • Report Building: Draft and finalize client deliverables, producing comprehensive reports.
  • Presentation: Present findings and recommendations to clients, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Updating Templates: Continuously update and refine assessment templates.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Work with the assessment coordinator to identify key stakeholders and schedule interviews with clients and SMEs.

  • If appropriate, you may support the transition from advisory to remediation. This could include:
  • SOW Customization: Review and customize statements of work to fit specific client requirements.
  • Information Discovery: Ensure thorough discovery processes, engaging relevant parties.
  • Issue Escalation: Identify issues and note decision points for escalation.
  • Status Reporting: Build and submit client status reports, maintaining transparency.
  • Growth Support: Assist Conversant Group through growth initiatives and other duties as assigned.

  • Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • 10 years + experience working in Cyber Security and or Infrastructure Organization, ideally 4 years+ in a management position.
  • Experienced Consultant: 2-5 years of delivering expert technical and/or cybersecurity advice.
  • Passionate Educator: Committed to educating clients about their vulnerabilities and improving their security maturity.
  • Analytical Thinker: Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Eager Learner: Willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies, with a focus on understanding cybersecurity and infrastructure and their complex interactions.
  • Flexible Worker: Open to remote work and occasional travel (as needed and infrequently) to client locations.
  • Effective Leader: Proven ability to plan, organize, train, evaluate, and direct staff.
  • Strong Communicator: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a knack for building relationships and leading teams.
