Job description

Has responsibility for master data management and document management
which requires domain specific subject matter expertise.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Data stewards represent the process owners, or data owners in business as usual (BAU) and project

activities, they define the end-to-end data flow and guidelines to use data. The Data Steward ensures that the critical data assets remain reliable and compliant within the enterprise, by connecting recognised best practices with functional strategic initiatives. Takes alignment with process and data owners to ensure APMT data ambitions are designed appropriately and incorporated respectively in the IFS architecture.

The data stewardship role will work closely within the respective Business Function and with the Data

Governance & Master Data Management (MDM) organisation, by leading, developing, and support the Business Process Experts and analysts.
The Data Steward has overall accountability for the quality of the data asset that he/she is responsible for, managing, enabling multiple cross functional stake holders.
This role is responsible for utilising and enhancing APM Terminals’ data governance processes to

ensure fitness of data elements – both content and metadata. The role ensures that sufficient data

quality is maintained to enable use of data effectively to support Business processes.

Data stewards have a specialist role that incorporates processes, policies, guidelines and

responsibilities for administering an organisation’s data in compliance with policy and regulatory

obligations. Interpreting data within a data feedback loop to drive continuous quality, expectations and

functional enhancements.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

DATA DOMAIN

  • Acts on behalf of the principal owner of Data across multiple Entities and different locations
  • Accountable for data quality with regards to the key/critical data elements existing within the Asset Management data domain
  • Together with the data owner, and process owner, creates Standards and sets the rules for global usage
  • Responsible for documenting information of the data elements, such as definitions, related business rules and standards as needed by Data Governance (DG) & Data Execution teams for effective Enterprise Data Management
  • Accountable for master & reference data updating with the latest up-to-date information
  • Provides inputs on the requirements of Enterprise Data Management processes related to the specific Asset Management data domain
  • Determines Business Rules and functional requirements to capture in DG documents


DATA QUALITY

  • Monitors and supervises the complete lifecycle of the master & reference datasets
  • Validates & approves the business terms & data definitions related to the data asset
  • Makes decisions, independent and cross functional, for key Data and process change
  • Engages in the ongoing and detailed evaluation of data quality, the identification of anomalies and discrepancies, and the contribution of expertise to understand the root cause and implement corrective measures
  • Responsible for the overall data quality of the data asset and accountable for the quality of the data asset over time
  • Responsible for solving data related issues and communicating resolutions with other data stewards from other domains
  • Leading cross functional discussions
     

BAU ACTIVITIES

  • Engaged in day-to-day use of functional knowledge to gauge and approve/reject master & reference data creation/updating/deletion and solving functional issues related to the data
  • Responsible for Servicer Now (SNOW) forms related to Data and constantly working on format and process improvement
  • Receives and updates global Data changes related to responsible area, in connection with APMT BPOs, FPOs or Data Owners
  • Ensures compliance and adherence to regional and global regulations
  • Take part in Data Governance meetings to represent issues, clarifications & improvements related to the data domain that the data steward is responsible for
  • Directly or indirectly report into the BPO/Data Owner, translating strategic business outcomes as directed by the Data Owner into data policies and standards
  • Holds bandwidth to take decisions and lead multiple tasks in multiple locations
  • Provide inputs and confirmations on global Dashboards in Maestro
  • Regularly communicate Data changes and updates to terminal users
     

PROJECTS AND IMPLEMENTATIONS

  • Has autonomy to impact the business in strategic initiatives, system improvements etc. with insights on the impact on data
  • Is responsible for the data templates delivery for new implementations

TEAMS IN THE DATA PROCESS

  • Drive maturity in the teams that are involved in the data execution process, ensure requestors and Data Execution teams are aware of the standards and guidelines that they must follow
  • Provide training to users of the Data Requisition processes


REPORTING AND SCOPE

The position reports to AM Functional Process Owner.

Important stakeholders are Functional Teams at terminals, BPOs, FPOs, BPEs in your own function or
 

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working with master data in your functional area of expertise.
  • Experience in data collection, cleaning and standardization is preferred.
  • Education in an engineering field is preferred, for example mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with documentation standards, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation, and proficiency in managing and utilizing this information.
  • High level with data analytics, including with excel, sequel, Visual Basic and other analytics software’s, tools and techniques.
  • Good understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems module is a preferred another function, Data Execution teams in Goblal Service Centers (where applicable) and Global Maters Data Management team.
  • Good stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive attitude; information seeking; able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Level headed and effective at change management, capable of pushing back when appropriate and face resistance in a calm and respectful manner.
  • Self-motivator, who is comfortable working remotely.
  • Seen as informal authorities by the rest of the organisation for the data.
  • Highly disciplined – following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation.
  • High quality awareness and ability to work with constant care.
  • Good English written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Fluent in additional language (e.g. Spanish, or Arabic) is considered an advantage.

Success in this role will require the ability to find approaches to development that work at scale, across geographic boundaries, and while generating commitment through influence rather than formal authority.
