Global Head of Sustainable Terroir M/F

We are looking for a Global Head of Sustainable Terroir M/F. You will be based at The Island, our office in central Paris.

The purpose

Sustainability has become a topic of high strategic importance for the Group, with – among others – the challenges linked with climate change, collapse of biodiversity, growing scarcity of natural resources and growing stakeholders’ expectations.

Among 4 S&R pillars, “Nurturing Terroir” is the one which Pernod Ricard wants to be known for. In addition to this reputational benefit, it drives supply chain resilience and brand value creation for the consumer. The purpose of the Head of Terroir position is to design the Terroir strategy, drive its implementation, ensure it is translated into procurement practices, and develop expertise and awareness across the Group.

Your Missions?

You will define a vision, ambition and strategy for the Nurturing Terroir pillar in order to create business value

  • Monitor external trends and risks and their consequences on the global business
  • Anticipate business adaptations to ensure the resilience of our organization
  • Demonstrate added values on the market and with consumers thanks to
  • Drive Group leadership on Terroir engagement through leading positions and public interventions

You will co-build the sustainable sourcing vision and strategy for natural ingredients

  • Analyze impacts and risks of climate change and biodiversity erosion on our supply chains
  • In close collaboration with internal Human Rights experts, identify social and working condition issues within our supply chains
  • Define sustainability ambition for our agricultural supply chains, develop Group policies and standards to support it and promote best in class practices
  • Prioritize terroirs and frame risk mitigation action plans, including certification policy

You will implement and deliver Terroir Roadmap

  • In close collaboration, with Procurement function and affiliates, lead the implementation of actions to deliver the terroir strategy and targets
  • Develop guidance, tools and capability to ensure affiliates and functional teams are equipped to deliver the roadmap
  • Monitor implementation, measure, analyze and report progress to the Top management and external stakeholders
  • Support affiliates and engaged directly in programmes when relevant

You will champion regenerative agriculture, biodiversity and community inclusion within our terroirs

  • Act as a Group center of excellence, serving HQ and affiliates, on regenerative agriculture and biodiversity
  • Convince and embark all our strategic terroirs in that direction
  • Coordinate and align efforts to deliver on carbon, biodiversity, water and people
  • Initiate creativity and innovation to find technical solutions
  • Manage impact measurement through innovative digital solutions

You will create and manage a cross-functional ecosystem to take decision and drive results

  • Embed the Terroir strategy at a high strategic level in the organization
  • Ensure a close collaboration with the Procurement function at all levels (HQ and affiliates), as well as with other functions involved (S&R, legal, Marketing…) to shape common ways to deliver our ambition
  • Manage a panel of external stakeholders to challenge and advise our strategy

  • You have 10+ years of experience in a similar position with a background in agronomy
  • Throughout your experience, you have developed knowledge related to agronomy and sustainability within the food & beverages industry
  • You have excellent communication & stakeholder management skills
  • You are a leader with the capacity to embark other stakeholders
  • You are able to lead cross-functional teams and drive change within a global organization
  • You speak both English & French fluently
