What are we looking for?
As a Ruby on Rails Developer, you will be responsible for building robust and scalable APIs with a single-page application JavaScript frontend. You will collaborate closely with the Product and UX teams to scope new features, contribute to the engineering roadmap, and manage multiple projects across the business simultaneously.

What are you expected to do?

Development and Integration:

  • Build and maintain Ruby on Rails APIs.
  • Develop single-page applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Ensure scalable API integrations to enhance platform functionality.

Feature Scoping and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Product and UX teams to scope and define new features.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Engineering Roadmap:

  • Contribute to the long-term engineering roadmap.
  • Provide technical insights and recommendations for future platform improvements.

Project Management:

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects across different business units.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.

You’ll be a great fit if:

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial Ruby/Rails experience.
  • Full stack development experience is preferred.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related IT discipline.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling APIs.
  • Practical experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Proficient with Git version control.
  • Experience in performance optimizations, such as caching and asset CDNs.
  • Strong Agile methodology skills, including iterating through user stories and applying Test Driven Development (TDD) techniques.
  • Solid monitoring focus, using tools like NewRelic.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks, including ReactJS, BackboneJS, and NodeJS.
  • Experience working with Elasticsearch.
  • Working knowledge of software testing methods and quality assurance practices.
  • Contributions to the open-source community.
  • An interest in the startup and technology community.
  • Knowledge of merchant gateways.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

What happens after you submit your application?

The whole process takes around 4 weeks:

  • There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. You will undergo an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our cool client. This will run for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to ramp it up. Be yourself and have fun.
  • We will constantly communicate with you as to the development of your application. You can also directly communicate with us to ask us about the status of your application.
  • If all goes well, we complete the reference check and provide other necessary requirements so we can offer you the job right away.
