Job purpose - major duties and responsibilities of the job

 Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Assist in identifying and assessing cyber risks and vulnerabilities within the financial institution.
  • Contribute to the development of risk management strategies and mitigation plans.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management efforts.

Incident Response and Recovery:

  • Support the incident response team in process development related to detecting, analyzing, and responding to cyber incidents.
  • Lead CLS post-incident reviews and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining and testing the institution’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to cyber driven disruptions.

Policy and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO, CRI).
  • Help develop, review, and update cyber resilience policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to cyber resilience related requirements.

Training, Exercises and Awareness

  • Assist in the development and delivery of cyber resilience training programs for employees.
  • Promote awareness of cyber resilience practices across the organization.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, threats, and technologies in cyber resilience.
  • Develop and deliver cyber tabletop exercises and simulations to strengthen incident response skills across the organization.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work with IT, legal, compliance, and other departments to integrate cyber resilience practices into daily operations.
  • Support communication efforts during and after cyber incidents.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including vendors and industry groups, to enhance cyber resilience capabilities and integration best practices.
Knowledge, skills and abilities - competencies required for successful job performance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the financial sector.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing cyber resilience and risk management strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, FFIEC) relevant to the financial sector.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are highly desirable.
