Electrical Systems Integration Engineer at Scythe

Scythe Robotics is looking for a talented Electrical Systems Integration Engineer to develop, debug and integrate Scythe's hardware and firmware systems. This multidisciplinary role requires broad knowledge, intuition, and deep collaboration to handle a range of responsibilities relating to high level system design, component integration, debugging, testing, and validation.

As an Electrical Systems Integration Engineer you will work with other engineers and operations experts from across the company to successfully design, build, scale and deploy an industry-leading zero-emissions autonomous mowing product. We expect you to thrive in a fast-paced, self-managed engineering environment, and to be a collaborative, low-ego teammate who helps Scythe realize its big mission.

This position is primarily on site at our Longmont location with some work from home opportunities.

 

What you’ll do at Scythe  

  • Work on robot electronics subsystems from cradle to grave. Analyze system designs, assist in component development and selection, assist bring up, and develop validation techniques…in order to ultimately build state-of-the-art Scythe products
  • Work with robot mechanical and mechatronics systems to improve overall system integration
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other teams to define the scope, requirements, and potential impact of projects as new designs move from concept, through prototype and into production
  • Perform real-time troubleshooting on the product as it goes from the integration phase through final operations
  • Perform and guide bring up, validation and reliability testing
  • Some firmware and software programming abilities to help test and validate overall system integration requirements
  • Data collection and analysis for integration testing purposes and product road mapping
  • Perform component engineering for product improvement or cost down purposes
  • Participate in design meetings and reviews with an eye towards integration, bring up and interoperability

What you know well

  • Using a diverse set of tools to integrate, implement and analyze hardware, firmware, and software solutions
  • Creating and interpreting firmware and hardware implementation schematics, diagrams and technical documents that explains upcoming/existing integrations to technical and non-technical individuals
  • Solid understating of electrical theory and fundamentals
  • Proficient in some programming languages such as C, C++ , Python, or Rust.
  • Comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters and mechanical tools
  • Excellent communications skills for explaining complex implementations
  • Worked 4+ years within an operations or development environment

What you’ve maybe done

  • Worked within an automation, robotics, automotive or aerospace environment or similar engineering field
  • System level design, integration, or testing of electro-mechanical systems and/or components that include large battery/power systems
  • Built hardware + firmware + software projects on your own, either as a hobbyist or in professional capacity
  • Experience with monitoring, visualization and alerting tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or Kibana

Scythe carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including education, years of experience, competencies and other relevant business considerations. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary along with your compensation mode preferences. The Electrical Systems Integration Engineer position has an expected minimum annual cash salary of $100,000. The actual pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Equity and benefits packages are NOT included in this estimate.
