Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Virtual US Bookkeeper to join our team. As a Virtual Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing our company's financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with US accounting standards. Your expertise in bookkeeping principles and proficiency in accounting software will contribute to the accurate and efficient management of our financial processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  2. Process and reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
  3. Prepare and issue invoices to clients, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments.
  4. Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment processing, while adhering to payment terms and deadlines.
  5. Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, and accruals, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Prepare financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
  7. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical financial data, analyzing trends, and identifying areas for cost savings or revenue growth.
  8. Ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations and standards in all financial transactions and reporting.
  9. Collaborate with external accountants or auditors during periodic audits or reviews to provide supporting documentation and resolve any audit-related issues.
  10. Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations, tax laws, and industry best practices, and apply updates as necessary to maintain compliance and efficiency.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, with a strong understanding of US accounting principles and practices.
  2. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar platforms, with the ability to navigate and utilize advanced features for financial management.
  3. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and financial reporting processes.
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  6. High degree of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information and transactions.
  7. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience and certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) will also be considered.
  8. Availability to work during US business hours, with flexibility to accommodate occasional meetings or deadlines outside of standard hours.
