Salary: $150,000.00 USD Annually - $175,000.00 USD Annually

Description: Our client, a fast growing entrepreneurial, leading and innovative producer of food and beverage products (founded in 2007), is hiring a National Director of Sales (individual contributor role). They specialize in flexible pouch manufacturing with state-of-the-art equipment and sell a portfolio of licensed products into retail channels (foodservice may be opening in the near future).

Generous bonus on top of base salary! Based near a strong airport with national travel (also Canada). 50-75% travel. Strong relationships with grocery channel, mass/club, Wal-Mart, alternative channels. Strong broker management/not managing team.

The primary objective for this role is to lead the sales strategy, Net Rev Growth, Gross Margin, and Profit. The role shares in the execution of the overall Company strategy. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of developing and implementing the National and Regional account plans for US accounts & Canadian accounts. The position requires demonstrated sales success in branded Consumer Packaged Goods Industry.

The successful National Sales Director will find and develop new business opportunities; create value for customers which correlate to high customer satisfaction; develop and implement annual key account business plans. The National Sales Director prepares plans, presents to customers, and develops new business opportunities while becoming a consultant, negotiator, and partner to the business. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of targeted accounts business with outstanding analytical, account planning and influencing skills.

Accountabilities include 3rd Party Broker & budgetary management, profitable business expansion via net revenue, gross margin, market share, merchandising and distribution targets. Leadership And Functional Responsibilities

  • Performance Delivery: Establishing, building and executing annual plans through the Broker Partner to ensure delivery of Net Revenue Growth, Distribution and Market Share objectives.
  • Vision & Planning: Convert Annual Internal Plans into a Joint Business Plans with desired partners, motivating cross-functional and Broker resources to support execution and delivery against business targets. Create a multi-year vision for future growth.
  • Demand Planning: Assist with the development of forecast for all accounts, and provide input into new product concepts, new product launch forecasts, ongoing replenishment forecasts, competitive landscape, and overall brand plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of promotions to avoid un-accrued deductions and ensure accurate financial accounting.
  • Aggressively manage deductions to resolution to achieve outstanding balance goals.
  • Fiscal Management: Ability to track trade spending across all customers.
  • Gap Closing: Proactively Identify “gaps” in plan and product offering providing solutions to close gaps in a timely manner.
  • Cross Functional Leadership: Collaborating internally to provide critical customer input into the business around development of shopper marketing strategies within accounts. Provide leadership with a clear and concise view of the business and roadmap for future growth.
  • Contributing to a High Performing Team: Productively influence cross functionally. Create and implement new and/or innovative ways to sell, merchandise and market our products and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a great deal of freedom and a high sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Contract and negotiate annual agreements for major accounts for control brands
  • Provide business analysis and insight: Create monthly reports and forecasts
  • Review business through regular analysis of syndicated consumption data and sales, by customer, segment and item, to identify trends and develop action plans to correct, or capitalize on those trends as needed. Use all key performance indicators (distribution, revenue, velocity etc.) to evaluate the health of the business monthly. Understand competitive, price and merchandise relationships and develop business plans accordingly.

Education And Skill Requirements

  • Self-Starter with little to no training needed
  • 10+ years of experience in sales and management within the Consumer Products industry
  • 5+ years working directly for a CPG brand Manufacturer
  • A proven track record of building and accelerating successful businesses directly or through a Broker Partner
  • A strong understanding of a customer P&L and the levers available to improve financial performance
  • 2 + years of People or Team Management in Consumer Products industry
  • Strong presentation skills, with the proven ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer and analytical skills; mid-level excel skills required
  • Experience negotiating and executing customer agreements required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the intuitive ability to work effectively with various personality types
  • Bachelor’s Degree required Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work/Physical Requirements

  • Able to travel at least 50% of the time for business (may be higher).
