Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the “European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud”.

We are currently looking for a Cloud Systems Developer to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.

Job Description

We are seeking experienced C++ developers to join our systems development team responsible for coding the core features for virtualization, networking and storage management. As an experienced C++ developer you’ll participate in the design, development and maintenance of the C++ OpenNebula core services and APIs.

What you will do 

• Design, develop, and maintain core services of OpenNebula.
• Develop system applications that interface with operating system facilities such as I/O, networking, and virtualization.
• Design and develop API servers for OpenNebula, including data formats, performance analysis and tuning to identify bottlenecks and bugs.
• Test-driven development of large solutions integrating and extending open source products, and using Git based workflows to develop new features in the project repositories
• Writing and maintaining software documentation
• Participate in the upstream community, contributing to challenging projects that develop innovative edge/cloud systems.
• Ensure cloud management products align with project and business goals, adhere to best practices, and meet performance requirements.
• Working with user use cases to test, debug, and troubleshoot software, assuring quality and functionality
• Working with other companies in the cloud-edge ecosystem within international projects and open-source communities. Availability to occasional travel and participation in international events and meetings
• Working with the integration and deployment teams in support and issue troubleshooting and triage, the use cases and solutions team in discovery and demo sessions, and the community team in contributions to the open-source community

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Hands-on experience in cloud systems development and integration for cloud computing using open-source technologies.
• Experience in designing, developing and maintaining C++ code base for system applications with knowledge of computing systems integration and the interaction with the operating system facilities like I/O, networking and virtualization.
• Experience on developing server applications, as well as analyzing and tuning their performance. Expertise on designing APIs.
• Experience integrating computing systems specially related to virtualization, storage and networking.
