As a Network & Security Cloud Architect at Smarsh, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure it meets the highest standards of security, scalability, and performance.
This role requires a deep understanding of cloud computing, network design, and security best practices, as well as the ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS networking and security services and a proven track record in designing and implementing cloud networks and security infrastructures.

How will you contribute?
  • This is a hands-on role where you’ll be teaching, leading, and learning from others in the company, ensuring that we all move forward as one group.
  • You will leverage your deep understanding of cloud networking, security principles, and industry best practices to protect our critical assets and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data.
  • Your expertise will be instrumental in mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Your contributions will directly impact the development and maintenance of secure, scalable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Infrastructure from Code (IfC) solutions, enhancing our DevOps and engineering platforms.
  • In addition to your technical acumen, your ability to foster collaboration and build strong relationships with teams across Smarsh and its broader network of companies will be essential to success in this role.
  • Lead the design and evolution of Smarsh's cloud network architecture, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, documentation, and standards to ensure consistency and maintainability.
  • Optimize network performance, scalability, and resilience to meet the demands of a growing and complex cloud environment.
  • Participate in customer discussions working with the technical product management organization on prioritizing the right set of features as a service.
  • Design and implement comprehensive security architectures and controls for our cloud infrastructure complex Gitops processes.
  • Work with partners in the business to conduct thorough security assessments, risk analyses, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Work with Infosec and security organizations for adherence to company policies and a seat at the table for process shaping.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Design and implement secure network connectivity between cloud environments, on-premises data centres, and remote offices.
  • Leverage cloud-native networking services (e.g. VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs) to optimize performance, scalability, and security.
  • Monitor network traffic, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Incident Response and Threat Mitigation:
  • Contribute to incident response plans to address security breaches and network outages.
  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve incidents promptly.
  • Continuously monitor the threat landscape and implement proactive measures to mitigate emerging risks.

  • What will you bring?
  • Experience in network and security architecture, with at least focused on AWS cloud.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of AWS networking and security services, including AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Direct Connect, AWS Control Tower, AWS Cloud WAN, AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, AWS Route 53, AWS GuardDuty, AWS Security Hub, and AWS Inspector. Your expertise extends to network security protocols such as IPSec and SSL/TLS, and you are proficient in configuring and managing intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS). Additionally, you have experience with Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technologies and implementing Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
  • You have a critical understanding of Terraform for managing and provisioning infrastructure, with a strong focus on integrating infrastructure management and change through DevOps processes to enhance automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Certifications:
  • CISSP, CCNP Security, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse teams across organizational boundaries.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
