Your missions

AIP Publishing is a leading publisher of the physical sciences. Working at AIP Publishing means being part of a mission: to accelerate scientific discovery while reimagining the future of scholarly publishing.

AIPP is proud to have been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. We foster a collaborative, creative atmosphere and encourage an inclusive workplace culture that maximizes individual contributions.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and strategic International Marketing Manager to spearhead our global expansion efforts, with a primary focus on the UK and European academic community. Based in the UK, this pivotal role involves crafting and executing innovative marketing strategies to expand AIPP’s global presence and deliver on our mission to advance, promote, and serve the physical sciences by breaking barriers to open, equitable research communication and empowering researchers to accelerate global progress. You will be a key player in building the AIPP brand and expanding the market influence of AIPP and our publishing partners among institutions, researchers, research corporations and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive EU/UK marketing strategy that aligns with AIP Publishing’s brand, goals, and values, including institutional and author campaigns, digital and social media efforts, and events.
  • Together with the US-based marketing team, execute researcher engagement activities to drive usage of our existing and new products, which will reinforce the value of our subscriptions, Read and Publish agreements, and gold OA packages.
  • With the editorial and publishing teams, develop and carry out an EU/UK thought leadership strategy.
  • Work with Sales Managers to identify strategic opportunities that resonate with the library community and ultimately drive sales and retention.
  • Work with stakeholders to create engaging multimedia campaigns to promote the AIPP brand, AIPP journals, publishing partner journals, and other products.
  • Ensure alignment of UK/EU and global marketing strategies.
  • Develop and execute regional marketing launch plans for new products and journals as needed.
  • Communicate goals, initiatives, and results of marketing campaigns internally.
  • Develop effective strategies and messaging to maximize our booth and general presence at key library and academic conferences.
  • Organize editor and other events that build researcher/author engagement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in marketing or a related function.
  • Deep experience as a marketing manager in a publishing environment (STM preferred), or working knowledge of scientific publishing.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing channels and practices and GDPR regulations in the EU and UK.
  • Able to prove past successes in terms of brand awareness, academic outreach, and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Familiar with marketing analytics and able to perform basic analysis around usage, conversion rates, and identifying trends.
  • Ability to speak French, German, Spanish or Italian a plus.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Capabilities:

  • Hands-on attitude to work, driven but also motivated by opportunity to think strategically and to share that input with rest of team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to plan and follow through with stakeholders to ensure satisfaction.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience writing and editing campaign copy to effectively communicate brand and product messaging for various marketing channels.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: you thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
  • Cultural alignment: you embody our principles—Progressive, Researcher-Focused, Experimental, Equitable, Authentic, Action-Oriented, and Collaborative.
