Job description

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experienced loss control or occupation-related safety services professional looking for the right opportunity? Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, has an immediate opening for a Loss Control Specialist to provide comprehensive risk management solutions and loss control services to New York/New England policyholders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages an assigned book of business within a given territory, ensuring service plans are in place, surveys and resurveys are completed, high risk accounts are identified and Underwriting is kept informed of progress/changes.
  • Schedules and completes worksite visits evaluating environments, identifying risks, and producing thorough documentation of findings and supporting recommendations.
  • Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops strategies for mitigation.
  • Applies technical knowledge to assist policyholders with development of key objectives to improve safety and loss control in the workplace, providing consultative and training services to support their goals.
  • Serves as a SME and training resource for internal business partners and external customers in occupational safety and loss prevention, conducting onsite training as appropriate.
  • Maintains professional designations and certifications as required by regulatory bodies for assigned territory.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives. Performs special projects/assignments as requested by leadership.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, Engineering, Hard Sciences (Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics), or related discipline.
  • CERTIFICATIONS: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OHST), Associate of Risk Management (ARM), or similar certification, preferred.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Office / 365 suite of applications and ability to quickly learn and adapt to proprietary and vended software applications.
  • TRAVEL: Extensive travel is required visiting insured's worksites, including industrial and construction sites.
  • Valid drivers license in good standing with the jurisdiction of issuance required.
