To make an impact as an enterprise denial coding analyst for UF Health Shands, you will:

  • Report to the enterprise technical denial assistant manager to optimize hospital revenue by maintaining low denial rates and high reimbursement rates for UF Health Shands.
  • Review technical denial claims and submit reconsiderations or appeals.
  • Ensure all denied claims are accurately processed and collaborate with revenue cycle departments to establish best practices for maximizing reimbursement and minimizing write-offs.
  • Serve as the dynamic denial management coding analyst, ensuring a minimal denial rate and maximizing reimbursement at the enterprise level to uphold a high coding standard across the organization.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of denied payments by researching patient stays and treatments, reviewing payer contracts, analyzing historical denials and appeals, and examining emerging trends in payer practices.
  • Maintain third-party payer relationships, including responding to inquiries, complaints and other correspondence.
  • Work with the enterprise technical denial assistance manager and senior denial manager to maintain a strong relationship with the Enterprise Managed Care Department to escalate and resolve unusual denial issues.


To achieve excellence in this full-time role, we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of coding or billing, insurance follow-up, collections or denial management in a hospital/clinical setting.
  • An associate’s degree or higher in a health or business-related field, plus three years of coding or billing, insurance follow-up, collections or denial management in a hospital/clinical setting is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital billing and reimbursement, denials and appeals, third-party contracts and federal and state laws that relate to contracts and the appeals process.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete the job with minimal errors and work independently.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret EOBs.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of comfort with computer systems.




Schedule: Full-time

Shift: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday

Location: Remote within the state of Florida
