Job description

Lee Enterprises is looking for a talented Software Developer to join our IT team. The Software Developer at Lee will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality software applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features while following best practices and coding standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modern software development practices and the latest technology stacks. This individual will contribute to our mission of driving technological advancements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and interns.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with the team.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing software applications.
  • Continuously learn and apply the latest software development practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Contribute to the architectural design and implementation of software solutions.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Work with version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage codebase changes and versioning.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes and ceremonies.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, VB6, C#, or Go.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Familiarity with back-end development and frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or .NET.
  • Understanding of database systems, both relational (e.g., MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub actions or CircleCI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Education and Experience:


  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with serverless computing.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Developer or similar role.


Certificates/Licenses:


  • Desirable certifications include:
    • Certified Scrum Developer (CSD)
    • AWS Certified Developer – Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate
    • Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE Programmer
    • Google Professional Cloud Developer
    • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
