What’s it like working as a Software Engineer at Questrade Brazil?

The Software Engineer will be involved in the development of functionally rich, robust and user friendly mobile, desktop and web applications, following through all stages of the Agile software development life cycle from inception to implementation. The developer will collaborate on a cross functional team including UX Design, QA and other engineers in the implementation of features end-to-end across all layers, and the growth of best practices and technological advancements. The ideal candidate for this role should be able to thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong work ethic, positive energy and the ability to innovate.

• Developing, testing, debugging back-end and front-end services
• Enhancing and modifying existing applications as needed to ensure add new features or improve user-experience
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with existing applications
• Collecting system performance and metrics to enable monitoring and operation
• Joining a rotation support the product in production, and to actively and reactively being responsible for building and supporting deployment pipelines, monitoring, troubleshooting, mitigating and analyzing production impact
• Collaborating to continuously improve operational excellence across the team
• Interacting with designers, developers, QA testers, copywriters, product owners and others in order to understand requirements and scope of work
• Playing active role in defining and implementing best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies
• Helping the team in technical decisions, estimate work efforts for user stories, including determining requirements, dependencies and risks
• Conducting research and developing proof of concepts
• Participating in and contribute to all Agile Scrum ceremonies
• Helping on the growth of other team members by providing guidance, feedback, code reviews and coaching of other team members

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and SOLID principles.
• Understanding of different design patterns and when to apply them.
• Knowledge and experience programming.
• Experience building REST APIs and the OpenAPI Spec.
• Experience with relational and object-oriented databases, and how to consume, manipulate and optimize applications that deal with large datasets.
• Knowledge and experience with HTML5, CSS.
• Hands-on experience with unit testing (Jasmine, Jest, xUnit, nUnit or similar).
• Experience with OIDC and OAuth2 standards and how to implement them.
• Experience integrating services.
• Experience with real-time communication (Sockets, Firebase, gRPC)
• Knowledge of Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) development practices.
• Experience with front-end technologies.
• Experience with at least one of Node.js, .NET or Java is a plus.
