About the role

The Digital Community Engagement Manager role at dbt Labs is a dynamic position primarily focused on developing and implementing our digital community strategy across platforms like Slack and Discourse, along with various engaging online programs. This person will be responsible for driving new community membership and driving more online, global engagement with existing members. Some days involve activating or hosting virtual events, while others are spent collaborating with internal teams to build campaigns aimed at attracting new members. In this high-impact role, you will develop the blueprints that will shape the future of the dbt Community globally, empowering thousands of analysts along the way.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Oversee and maintain: Oversee the strategy and execution of our digital community initiatives, including Community Slack, Discourse forum, Community email campaigns, our Community web presence, a monthly AMA series, Community spotlight, and more. Develop new programs to increase membership and engagement within the community.
  • Online presence: Be the face and host of our key digital programs. You should be excited to host live events on camera, bring high energy, and feel comfortable in the spotlight. Preserve and enhance the dbt Community's reputation as a welcoming, friendly, and helpful part of the data ecosystem. Engage and build relationships with members of the dbt Community, answer questions and elevate helpful contributions from other community members.
  • Collaborate: Expect to work closely with our in-person community program manager to ensure unified integration of experiences. Collaborate with our campaigns, content, and web teams to build integrated community experiences that reach a global audience. Partner with the sales and field marketing teams to enhance the discoverability of our product. Coordinate with the marketing operations team to develop streamlined processes for our programs. You will work with these teams to bring unity to the community, develop new programming aligned with each team’s goals, and create opportunities for community engagement.
  • Community metrics: Analyze community engagement performance metrics including new, engaged and strategic members. Recognize trends and make data-driven decisions to optimize future programming.
  • Research: Stay up-to-date with industry news and dbt product updates to ensure that you remain knowledgeable about the latest trends and advancements. This will allow you to make informed decisions about the needs of the community and business.

You are at an advantage if…

  • You have previous experience working in a digital marketing, program management, engagement or community role
  • You have experience with data analytics and/or have worked closely with data professionals
  • You have the ability to prioritize in a complex and fast-paced organization. You are able to adapt to change and pivot plans when necessary

Who we are

At dbt Labs, we have developed strong opinions on how companies should practice analytics.

Specifically, we believe that:

  • Code-based transformations offer unmatched flexibility and transparency across various “multi-player” development to power everyone in the organization to collaborate on a common language
  • Data analysts should adopt similar practices and tools to software developers
  • Critical analytics infrastructure should be controlled by its users as open source software
  • Analytic code itself — not just analytics tools — will increasingly be open source

It turns out that a lot of other people believe this too! Today, there are 30,000 companies using dbt every week, 100,000 dbt Community members, and 4,100 companies paying for dbt Cloud. Our customers include JetBlue, Hubspot, Vodafone New Zealand, and Dunelm. dbt is synonymous with the practice of analytics engineering, defining an entire industry. We’re backed by top investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter.
