Position Overview

The SD-WAN Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, design, and maintenance of all SDWAN infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. This role is critical to the organization's success in meeting its global SD-WAN business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, audit and enforce policies and procedures governing the use of SDWAN technologies, ensuring compliance with business goals and objectives as well as meeting security and best practices.
  • Lead a small technical team to provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of SDWAN configurations, network topologies, and operational procedures.
  • Continuously assess and optimize SDWAN performance to meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
  • Implement traffic engineering and quality of service (QoS) mechanisms to prioritize critical applications and optimize bandwidth utilization.
  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve SDWAN-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Generate regular reports on network performance, capacity utilization, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
  • Provide training and educational resources to internal stakeholders on SDWAN technologies, capabilities, and best practices.
  • Monitor and report on health and performance, ensuring that proactive measures are in place to detect early allowing for automatic remediation.
  • Maintain relationship with vendor SDWAN technical, solutions, commercial and customer success teams, as well as management of vendor support and performance.
  • Provide feedback and input into Steering Committee

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure management, with a focus on SDWAN technologies.
  • Must have proven experience in the application of network design, development and implementation techniques in communications systems that involve a variety of hardware and software suites
  • Strong network and security engineering knowledge, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator, able to engage within groups to help steer and lead the training and processes.
  • Experience working with SDWAN solutions such as Versa, Cisco Viptela, VMware NSX, or Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Industry certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, or SD-WAN certifications are highly desirable.
