GENERAL SUMMARY

The Regional Director (RD), America Southeast & Caribbean is responsible for the profitability & growth of the region. The Regional Director is tasked with the retention of existing hotels, support of the commercial sales effort in the territory, and new hotel development efforts. The primary responsibility for this position is to consistently engage and retain regional hotels by managing relationships and working with the PHR team to enhance hotel and Preferred profitability through all managed reservation channels, as well as PHR services and programming. The Regional Director is a contributor to the growth of all Preferred Travel Group business entities:  Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Beyond Green, Historic Hotels of America, Historic Hotels Worldwide, PTG Consulting and Beyond Green Travel.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Under the general supervision of the Vice President, Americas East, the Regional Director directly oversees their assigned hotels, resorts and assigned strategic partnerships in the America Southeast & Caribbean region in partnership with the Director, Hotel Revenue Optimization. Regular collaboration is expected on a global basis across regional and functional areas. Functional areas include but are not limited to: Sales, Revenue Optimization, Marketing, Corporate Communications, Alliance Partners, Consulting, and Finance.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, Management

A.    Prepare and execute on an Annual Retention and Business Development plan for the America Southeast & Caribbean region including hotel and consulting business lines with input from the Vice President, Americas East. 

B.    P&L responsibility for their own assigned region including budgeting, forecasting and implementation of strategies to meet budget objectives. Oversee Accounts Receivable activity and implementation of strategies to meet budget objectives.

C.    Maximize strategic hotel group partnerships and individual hotel relationships through active relationship management including meetings, hands-on support, and key decision-making.

D.    Work toward and report on the achievement of the Region and the position-specific goals.

E.    Identify initiatives to move the assigned region forward with input from the VP.


Member Relations, Retention and Support

A.    Provide the first point of contact and facilitate all communication with PHR for member hotels in the region. Identify key decision-makers and influencers at each hotel in order to build strong business relationships.

B.    Maintain strong relationships with hotel leadership and decision-makers, management companies, and ownership in the region.

C.    Maintain regular contact with all hotels in the region by personal visits, telephone, and regional meetings.  Deliver all product training necessary. 

D.    Renew, with the support of leadership, all existing member hotel contracts in a timely manner.

E.    Work with property and PHR revenue management teams to ensure optimal revenues to member hotels and for PHR.

F.    Work in close collaboration with the domestic and global sales teams to ensure effective sales support is provided to all hotels within the region.

G.    Conduct formal, scheduled, operational reviews (‘Business Reviews’) with each hotel in the region on a regular basis and provide ad hoc support as required.

H.    Monitor, manage and maintain primary responsibility for the accounts receivable of regional hotels with the support of the central PHR finance team. 

I.    Initiate regional sales and marketing activities and programs to support member properties. Support and sell PHR brand and co-op programs within the regioWork toward and report on the achievement of regional and position-specific goals as defined by the company’s and the region’s annual goals.

J.    Provide timely scheduled and, as assigned, ad hoc status reports on areas of responsibility. 


Region Development Responsibilities Include:

A.    As part of the Strategic Plan for the Region with the Vice President, Americas East, grow the hotel portfolio of the region through relationships with existing properties and strategic partnerships in the region, develop lead opportunities for all Preferred Travel Group business entities including Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Beyond Green, Historic Hotels of America, Historic Hotels Worldwide, PTG Consulting and Beyond Green Travel.

B.    Assist the Vice President, Americas East to identify and prioritize a robust target/prospect list

C.    Provide guidance on and/or development meeting support for qualified prospects.

D.    Manage assigned strategic partnerships to retain current hotels and identify and pursue new hotels in coordination with the EVP, VP, regional team and/or Development team.


QUALIFICATIONS

    Degree in business (BB/BS/BA) with marketing or hotel industry experience a plus.

    7+ years of travel industry-related sales, marketing, and/or distribution experience required.

    English language oral and written required.

    A proven track record for developing customer relationships and strategic results-oriented programs.

    Strong experience in hotel sales and/or revenue management, or closely related. 

    Outstanding communication and persuasion skills, both written and verbal.

    Competency in the use of business software for communications and presentations

    Strong business acumen, and analytical and multi-dimensional strategic-thinking skills required.

    Strong knowledge of electronic distribution channels for the hotel and travel industry. 

    High energy and commitment required.

    Strong teamwork and team-building skills required.

    Knowledge and tools for business travel throughout the region

    Experience with global markets, cultural awareness and “international thinking”


WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be based in a Remote Home Office in the Southeast US. Remote positions are provided with appropriate technology tools for mobile and at home use.  The incumbent is seated most of the time.

Potentially 20-40% of time spent traveling regionally and occasion national or international travel.


REQUIRED TRAINING

1.    Orientation in the New York and/or other PTG office

2.    PTG member hotels and team knowledge 

3.    PTG tools training – Outlook, CRM, PTG member extranet and other systems

4.    Education and guidelines of PHR Brand Standards and all programs
