LMI is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to be part of an agile team designing and developing complex, enterprise-level information systems. All candidates must have strong communication skills, a passion for application development, and a desire to assist in transitioning to an evolving suite of cutting-edge technologies on high-profile project

Responsibilities:

This is a part-time role, requiring 25-50% of your working hours. This position requires a B.S. in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Azure SQL Database, App Services, and Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication methodologies. Additionally, expertise in DNS, DNSSEC, certificates, vulnerability remediations, and a strong focus on security and compliance is required. The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the project team’s efforts to pursue an Azure based FedRAMP Moderate Authorization to Operate (ATO).

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Azure cloud services, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Configure and manage Azure SQL Databases, App Services, and other Azure components.
  • Implement and manage SSO authentication methodologies to enhance security and user experience.
  • Manage DNS and DNSSEC configurations and ensure proper handling of certificates.
  • Identify, analyze, and remediate security vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure.
  • Ensure all development activities adhere to security and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge.
  • Assist the project team in achieving an Azure-based FedRAMP Moderate Authorization to Operate (ATO).
Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in application development, with a strong focus on Azure cloud services.
  • Deep understanding of Azure cloud architecture, networking, Azure SQL Database, and App Services.
  • Experience with setting up and configuring SSO authentication methodologies.
  • Proficient in managing DNS, DNSSEC, and certificates.
  • Demonstrated experience in vulnerability remediation and maintaining security and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Certification in Azure technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate) is a plus.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Development experience within an agile environment.
  • Using formal ticketing applications such as Atlassian Jira.
  • Experience working in a consultant / client environment.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Experience working with the VA Office of Information and Technology (OIT)
  • Experience obtaining an ATO in the Department of Veterans Affairs.
