As a Cloud Engineer on our professional services team, you will play a key role in consulting with clients to design, implement, and optimize cloud solutions tailored to their unique business needs. This role also provides expert guidance, technical expertise, and hands-on support to ensure successful cloud adoption and transformation. 

 

Who you are 

You are a highly skilled and client-focused Cloud Engineer who has extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud environments across multiple platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP. You are a problem solver and decision maker skilled at working together with clients to drive innovation and provide insights and recommendations to improve their technology objectives.  

 

Nexustek’s Cloud delivery organization has both a managed service and a professional services practice.  Your primary focus will be to support our managed services practice.  As demand allows, you may also support our managed services delivery practice for outstanding activities required by our customers.

 

You know how to: 

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' existing IT infrastructure, applications, and workloads.
  • Evaluate clients' readiness for cloud migration, identifying gaps in skills, processes, or technology.
  • Assist clients in building a business case for cloud migration, including cost-benefit analysis and ROI projections.
  • Develop comprehensive cloud migration strategies that align with clients' business goals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures tailored to clients' needs.
  • Help clients select appropriate cloud services and technologies (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) from providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Ensure designs meet industry compliance standards and security best practices.
  • Implement pilot projects to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of proposed cloud solutions.
  • Conduct performance and stress testing to validate the robustness of solutions.
  • Create detailed migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Plan and execute data migration strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
  • Re-host, re-platform, or refactor applications for cloud environments.
  • Move on-premises infrastructure to the cloud, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Implement IaC using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate deployment and management of cloud resources.
  • Set up continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to streamline application delivery.
  • Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency, including scaling and load balancing configurations.
  • Implement security controls such as identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring.
  • Conduct compliance audits to ensure cloud environments meet regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Provide training and workshops to upskill client teams on cloud technologies and best practices.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation to support the ongoing management and operation of cloud environments.
  • Work with Day 2 support in Onboarding clients into Managed Services.
  • Regularly review and optimize cloud usage to improve performance, reduce costs, and incorporate new cloud features and services.
  • Implement monitoring and management tools to ensure the health and performance of cloud environments.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Set up automated backup solutions and conduct regular testing to ensure data can be restored quickly and accurately.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on the progress of migrations, challenges faced, and solutions implemented.
  • Establish feedback loops with clients to ensure their needs are being met and to make necessary adjustments to migration plans.

 

 

You are skilled in most of these technologies: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with a focus on cloud migrations.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps).
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker and Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in cloud computing and IT consulting.

 

One or more of the following architect-level certifications may be required:  

  • AWS Certified Practitioner (or Solutions Architect)
  • Azure Engineer Associate (or Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Google Cloud Engineer (or Professional Cloud Architect)
