Full Time Instructor Position – Physics

Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Physics position.  This is a nine-month, non-remote position. The selected candidate will primarily offer instruction in both general and/or technical physics courses for science and healthcare majors, and general education physical science courses for non-science majors.  The contact person for this search is Dr. Jessica Ringo, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics - jringo@lsua.edu

Qualifications:

  • A graduate degree with at least 18 hours in Physics.
  • Teaching experience, preferably at the undergraduate level in general physics.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology for teaching, such as learning management systems, multimedia resources, and interactive tools.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and student success.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in general physics, both in-person and online to a diverse student body.
  • Teach general education physical science courses for non-majors, both in-person and online to a diverse student body.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective instructional materials, including laboratory sessions, lectures, assignments, and assessments, to facilitate student learning.
  • Develop an online general physics lab through a guided design model in collaboration with LSU online. 
  • Develop syllabi and instructional materials tailored to course objectives and instructional mode.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and other assessment methods.
  • Provide guidance and support to students through office hours, email correspondence, and other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of instruction and curriculum.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other service activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
