At Better Life Partners, we are revolutionizing the way substance use disorders are treated, and we're looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Pre-Submissions Specialist. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, all from the comfort of your own home.

The Role:

We are seeking a Pre-Submissions Specialist accountable for the claims creation and management of FFS and specific Value-Based contracts from the internal EHR system to our practice management system. This job is for you if you have a passion for improving health care, thrive in a fast-paced environment, appreciate interacting with different people and roles virtually across multiple states, have a great attention to detail and are diligent about follow-up and follow-through. The job requires a passion for keeping track of complex processes and ensuring things move to completion.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for claims submission for value-based contracts billing for assigned payers by RCM Leadership
  • Understanding insurance regulations of multiple states (NH, ME, MA, VT) Community Based Mental Health services - especially addiction treatment
  • Review FFS pre-submission coding edits/errors in the practice management system on a daily basis
  • Collaborate with Pre-Submissions Team Lead to meet department claims submissions deadlines.
  • Assist RCM Team with special projects as needed

  • Associates Degree or Equivalent experience
  • Prior knowledge of CPT Code/ ICD-10 codes
  • Dedication to completing challenging tasks
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong relationship building skills both external and internal.
  • Thrive on working independently
  • It will also be great if you have:
  • Knowledge of medical insurance payers and regulations
  • Familiar with CPT code and ICD-10 terminology
  • Knowledgeable in the healthcare & mental health industries - terminology, regulations, and processes
  • Familiar with all aspects of the RCM Life cycle


This position is remote (work from home) with expectation of attending team meetings no more than once quarterly. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia.

Work from home requirements:

  • Must have internet service with minimum upload/download ability
  • Company will provide equipment (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset) plus a remote work stipend
  • Must have a quiet space to speak to members with minimal background noise
  • Must understand the importance of protected health information and ensure any data/information is not visible to others


This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The starting range for this position is $21.29 - $28.30 per hour + equity + benefits. The final compensation package is influenced by various factors such as experience, education, degrees earned, market data, and business requirements.
