SUMMARY
We are looking for a talented and creative problem solver to be a Sr. Product Manager at Oportun for Servicing and Collections, delivering critical capabilities to improve member experience. In this role, you will be responsible for various Servicing and Collections initiatives. You will articulate product strategy, set objectives and key results, define roadmaps and work with the cross-functional team to deliver best-in-class solutions. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Strategy: Work closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define product strategy and OKRs for Servicing and Collections initiatives.
  • Product Development: Scope and lead the creation of business requirements and process flows for both new and existing product features that will increase the financial health of our customers and efficiency of the Oportun team.
  • Product Ownership: Perform and document walkthroughs of system functionality. Work with business process owners on controls documentation, review, testing and remediation.  Track and facilitate audit finding responses, root cause analysis, and system enhancements for corrective action plans. Deep understanding of financial systems, compliance and audit requirements (SOX and PCI) and collections practices.
  • Impact and Execution: Collaborate with a cross functional team of engineers, designers, business, analytics and finance partners to deliver critical business initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Work closely with legal, compliance and risk management teams to ensure products adhere to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Build and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and feedback through interactions with business partners and cross-functional team discussion. Identify opportunities to build new tools to enable internal teams to perform better, faster & more efficiently.
  • Data-driven decision making: Leverage data and analytics to make informed decisions, monitor product performance and continuously improve product. Identify opportunities to improve the end-to-end process by looking at various data sources (business metrics, customer metrics, etc.)
  • Communication: Effectively communicate product updates, priorities, and progress to internal stakeholders, executive leadership, and external partners.
 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong track record: 7+ years of product management experience in high-growth environments, with experience in the financial services industry (FinTech, challenger bank, etc.) highly preferred.
  • Customer centric: You are passionate about improving the financial health of Oportun’s customers.
  • Analytical problem solver: You have experience working and delivering on complex problems. You excel in making data-informed decisions (testing and experimentation, defining metrics, data analysis).
  • Collaborative: You have a track record of shipping and iterating on impactful products that required partnering with and building consensus across a wide group of cross-functional partners. You are curious, listen, understand how to design requirements that solve the business need while balancing the complexity of the solution. You are their partner to get things done.
  • Excellent communicator: You are a clear and concise communicator, and you have superb documentation skills. You are comfortable navigating through ambiguous problem spaces in pursuit of clarity and concrete outcome.
  • Execution: You are solution-oriented and able to help the team push through obstacles and blockers to deliver value for our members. You understand how to break apart something very complex into logical, understandable, and sequenced parts of a roadmap and gain buy-in as needed.
  • Bonus Points: You have experience launching products within complex legal and regulatory frameworks such as Finance, experience with SQL, and experience working with a multi-national workforce.
