Job description

Our client, a leading global IT service provider,is recruiting for a Azure SQL DBA to join their business in Germany.

Position Title:	Azure SQL DBA
Position Type:	Minimum 1 year FTE
Start Date:	ASAP
Location:	Hungary - remote location

REQUIREMENTS

Provide DBA support for Microsoft Azure Cloud MS SQL DBs, with option to add more types of DBs in more locations for approximately 400 DBs including MS SQL and Oracle database (12)
Provide support coverage of 8x5 support (Germany business hours) with on-call support for P1 and P2 incidents.
Monitoring of performance and implementation of changes, and optimizations, including monitoring and health checks on DR
Monitor activity on DBs to identify obsolete ones and check monthly for unused DB’s.
Grades, patches, and maintenance activities
Ensure high availability including backup & recovery activities using prescribed tools of the Azure team.
Ensure appropriate activities are done to tight fit and right size instances including optimizing for cost-effective run.
Proactive and reactive data management support
Support the Azure team with defining the proper DBs structure for the new projects and creating IaC-based provisioning templates.
Execute DB creation and setup including troubleshooting in required subscriptions.
Provide project hyper care support on issues.
Define and enforce policies, procedures & standards.
Validate and ensure DB security, privacy, integrity.
Use Infrastructure as a Code for deployments (Terraform)
Ensure key metrics are set up (to be defined & confirmed by Brenntag) and reported on a regular basis including the improvement suggestions. Provide regular reports (as defined & confirmed with Brenntag) on overall improvements seen on the DB landscape (consolidation, optimizations, financial optimizations)
