POSITION DESCRIPTION   

The PM II position will be responsible for management of local, multi-year projects for HGL’s EPA Region 5 client. Additionally, the PM will have opportunities to manage other projects for HGL across its diverse program and project portfolio. 

*This position is remote for candidates who live within the Midwest/EPA Region 5 states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan). Work with field travel will be required.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING 

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

  • Management of technical and administrative aspects of CERCLA RI/FS, RD/RA, operations and maintenance (O&M), and/or long-term monitoring (LTM) or RCRA-equivalent phases of environmental investigation and restoration projects.
  • Meeting project scope, schedule, budget requirements.
  • Directing, managing, and leading project teams to meet project objectives in-line with corporate and customer quality expectations.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.
  • Effectively manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
  • Supporting business development efforts, including leading or supporting proposal efforts.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • 6+ years of directly related experience executing and managing investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA and RCRA, including oversight of project teams, management of budget, schedule, safety, quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field (MA/MS in a related field may decrease the years of experience required).
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Self-starter, with analytical and leadership skills, with ability to make informed decisions independently with minimal oversight during project execution. 
  • Ability to build consensus among leadership, internal, and external stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT 

  • PE and/or PG certifications.
  • Work experience in the Midwest/EPA Region 5 states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio).
  • Experience with investigation and/or remediation of PFAS-impacted sites.
  • Experience with high resolution site characterization (HRSC).
  • Solid understanding of screening values and risk assessment process.
  • Experience with remedial technologies and approaches.
  • Experience working with EPA Region 5, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or PRPs on EPA Region 5 Superfund Sites.
