The Senior Payroll Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day payroll processes including collecting, entering and reviewing payroll data; processing and distributing payroll on a bi-weekly basis for ~2,500+ employees for Paycor’s internal payroll, primarily in the United States and Canada. The Senior Payroll Analyst will process and audit the payroll, assist with benefits activities, and assist in the development and implementation of improved payroll process and procedures. The Senior Payroll Analyst must have a firm understanding of payroll theory, possess the ability to apply changes whether legislative in nature or management driven, be able to adhere to rigorous deadlines and be committed to ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Duties and Cor Responsibilities

  • Analyze, compute, review, edit and document payroll process transactions related to wages, deductions, and taxes for employees in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll processing captures updates for all earnings and deductions including any new hires, personnel actions, transfer/reassignments, personal changes, time imports, bonuses, equity vesting events, incentive payments, commissions, benefits, garnishments, and taxes.
  • Prepare full cycle payroll process including time and attendance ensuring Fair Labor Compliance.
  • Balance payroll accounts by resolving any discrepancies.
  • Responsible for recording payroll journal entries and other month-end close items including preparing reconciliations and variance analysis for payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Administer employee garnishments and judgments related to payroll.
  • Determine workers compensation payments and submit reporting monthly and/or quarterly.
  • Review tax tables and understand ramifications of system updates.
  • Recommend and implement payroll process improvements to improve quality and reduce payroll errors.
  • Complete the 401(k) process to ensure information is accurate and properly recorded.
  • Prepare payroll reporting related to tax credits and various payroll audits.
  • Prepare various bi-weekly and monthly payroll and headcount reports.
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-jurisdictional, multi-state payroll tax filings including registering new withholding locations and year-end W-2 and W-3 reporting.
  • Maintains the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley compliance efforts over accounting for internal payroll, including implementing new internal controls as necessary for related processes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities including participating in special projects as needed.
  • Review/analyze changes to wage earnings for accuracy
  • Prepare and book necessary payroll journal entries for wage adjustments
  • Create adhoc reporting as required
  • Provide accurate documentation/reporting supporting company audits

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or professional certification preferred
  • Minimum of five to seven years of hands-on payroll experience; as well as multi-jurisdictional processing
  • Strong knowledge of Payroll and Payroll Taxes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and follow up skills; detail oriented
  • Understanding of taxing authorities and government regulations
  • Ability to perform duties in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines
  • Hands on experience with automated payroll and time and attendance systems is required
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations
  • Maintain confidentiality at all levels
  • Proficient in Excel a must

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. In addition to base pay, (61,600 - 105,164 Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on the position.
