The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain.
About the Role:
As Director - Chemical Scenario Research & Analytics, you will be responsible for liaising between the energy markets team and various research groups to develop consistent, long-range planning scenarios on supply/demand/price for a variety of basic, intermediate, and finished chemicals. You will be the primary contact and subject matter expert on the impact of energy to the chemical value chains. You will also meaningfully contribute to service creation for these scenarios. You will report to CMA’s VP of Energy Markets and work with the Executive Director for long-term energy market research.
You Will:
- Establish and maintain a reputation for scenario planning for varied chemical value chains
- Lead development of new market research products focused on long-range effects of distinct energy pathways on the petrochemical fundamentals for markets such as olefins, aromatics, and plastics
- Direct primary research and create analysis for new service launches such as evolution of feedstock advantages, new capacity trends, refining landscape changes, end-use demand modeling, supply/demand balancing, trade flows, pricing, general market dynamics, individual company analysis, and econometric modeling
- Oversee the chemical scenario process and communicate important messages internally and externally
- Ensure consistent global market coverage and analysis
- Provide neutral and objectively written content to support new services and strategic analyses
- Provide scenario planning expertise for consulting projects and client development
- Liaise between CMA & external research partners
- Develop market presentations and present information in client meetings and at conferences
- Build and maintain industry contact relationships across producers, consumers, traders, and the financial community
- Collaborate with sales personnel to identify new business opportunities for sales and consulting engagements
You Have:
- At least 12 years’ energy or chemical industry experience, including market intelligence and/or strategic planning
- Experience identifying and explaining core/essential issues within complex problems and delivering insights and solutions
- Degree in chemical engineering (preferred), chemistry (preferred), economics, or related discipline
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Advanced skills in Excel manipulation techniques such as VBA scripting (preferred)
- Advanced MS Office, PowerBI, Spotfire and/or Tableau experience (preferred)
- Python experience (preferred)
- Post-graduate academic work in a technical field (i.e. Master’s Degree or PhD or master’s in Chemical Data Science or Petroleum Engineering; this will be considered in lieu of experience)

Pay Range: $100,000 - $250,000
