The below is the Job description - Azure Infrastructure Lead (Belgium position):
Job Summary: We are seeking an Azure Infrastructure Lead who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the Azure infrastructure landscape of client’s Business Unit. As a Lead Infra, you will lead a small team in implementing and overseeing the Azure architecture and ensuring that it meets the organization's needs. You will work closely with various teams to ensure that our Azure infrastructure meets our organization's needs and adheres to security best practices. You will also be expected to manage the projects in your stream. We expected a boots on the ground mentality. Additionally, governance is managed by a group team, and you will be responsible for ensuring compliance. You will be working under the direction of the Product Owner & the BSO.
Daily operations:
- Ticket management: Intake of all issues by priority and managing the work assigned to the team.
- Manage the team which consists of both local & offshore members.
- Escalating to group when required
- Documenting all procedures/operations
- Following up on & resolving alerts
- Problem management, create projects to remove problems.
- Ensure service management tickets.
- Vulnerability management / remediation
- Ensure ticket quality.
Architecture:
- Follow organization compliancy rules & bring solutions/designs to the Steerco.
- Improve upon current situation by optimising workloads (translates to consolidating app service plans, SQL servers,...)
- Design Security architecture as requested by BSO Bart Vandooren (for example the new keeper & key vault projects)
- Automate where possible (KQL, Powershell, Policies,...)
- Analyse new technologies & doing a Proof of Concept.
- IaaC: ARM & Terraform template optimisation.
Project Management:
- Pitch & implement the infrastructure Projects that are required to stay complaint.
- Create project plannings & distribute the work across teams.
- Actively participate in leadership meetings & Steerco’s
- Regular presentations (steerco, Lunch & Learn,...), this includes basic PowerBi reporting & DevOps integration for Gant charts.
- Change process: creating the production changes via Service Management & following up.
Cost Management: Must be creative in reducing cost while keeping the same performance, functionality & redundancy.
Engineering:
Hands on engineering & troubleshooting, incident support is 50% of the function, technologies:
- App services, as our websites & APIs are the core business, many changes & most troubleshooting will be API & App service related.
- Entra ID (IaM, Service principals, entra applications)
- SQL (both on premise & PaaS), includes writing Queries, optimizing Queries & general database optimisation
- Cosmos DB
- Storage account configuration / encryption
- Implementing security, this is a very large chunk of the day-to-day job.
- Documenting all changes
- Requesting & documenting Certificates / passwords / secrets
- DevOps CiCd , IaaS in ARM & terraform.
- Virtual Machines (phasing out)
- Networking : limited to local Vnets, Firewall Exceptions & NSGs
