 About the Job

The Master of Arts in School Counseling Program Director reports to the Dean of Counseling and directs all aspects of the degree program, including curriculum, clinical practicum and internships, faculty hiring, training and development, student and program assessment, and CACREP accreditation. The Program Director teaches an annual load of 12 credit hours.  The Program Director is the contact point for student, staff, and faculty issues prior to escalation to the dean. The Program Director maintains core faculty status; faculty rank is assigned per the CCU Faculty Handbook.

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  1. A terminal degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a regionally accredited college/university, CACREP accreditation preferred.
  2. LPC (or state-based equivalent) license is required.
  3. Teaching and clinical counseling experience required, which includes two years or more of clinical experience in a variety of counseling settings.
  4. Knowledge of ethical standards of practice and ability to effectively teach the same.
  5. Demonstrate superior oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with the CCU community, ministry partners, corporate partners and general audiences interested in or related to the program.
  6. Demonstrate competence in a variety of computer applications including MS Office Suite, Blackboard, and other software used in the program.
  7. An understanding of adult learning and distance learning theory.
  8. Exhibit a servant spirit and behavior.

Key Job Duties

Contribute to CCU’s mission: Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the Program Director contributes to the mission by ensuring graduates are prepared to advance the restorative mission of Jesus Christ through ethical clinical mental health services and emulate His character and compassion in all they do.

Program Development

  1. Maintain curriculum development oversight for all courses within the program.
  2. Oversee and enhance inseat and online delivery of the program.
  3. Oversee (and conduct when appropriate) trainings specific to the program including enrollment, marketing, and student service advisor training.

Program Administration

  1. Responsible for the day to day operations of the program under the supervision of the Dean of Counseling.
  2. Supervise and support the Clinical Coordinator.
  3. Identify and interview new full-time and affiliate faculty as assigned by the dean.
  4. Oversee student learning and program assessment by developing, modifying, and executing the assessment plan. Write annual assessment report.
  5. Oversee and serve on committees as assigned by the dean.
  6. Address student and faculty concerns prior to issue escalation to the dean.

Instruction

  1. Teach an annual load of 12 credit hours, reflecting a 12-credit hour load reduction for administrative responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. Faculty pay will be assigned by rank at a range of $65,000-$90,000 annually. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations. CCU does not determine pay based on sex or any other protected status.

  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
