Job description

MS SQL L2 Position
Experience with very large databases and/or data warehousing.
Good knowledge of MsSQL on Windows Server
Some experience on Postgres SQL is preferred.
The role requires below responsibilities-
Database user account management:
DB account creation
Grant access rights on SYS and non-SYS objects
Permission on folders, log/trace files to Apps DBA
Define and manage user profiles/policies
Database Software maintenance:
Implement database patches in non-production and production environment; execute test plan, and rollback if necessary.
Database Monitoring:
Monitor database log files for errors.
Monitor database components affecting connectivity e.g., listeners process and log.
Monitor database backups
Monitor database related OS/network parameters
Monitor free space availability on the database server
Manage Database Capacity:
Monitor growth rate of database objects and proactively resolve space related errors.
Monitor RDBMS log files and archive them in a timely fashion
Monitor mount points to keep free space available on which RDBMS files and database files are located.
Relocate physical database objects, for example, datafile, index, UNDO files, as necessary to manage space on the server.
Manage Database Availability:
Ensure availability of instance/database, listeners, log files, space of log files, and other RDBMS related processes.
Database Maintenance:
Perform re-indexing as necessary to improve database performance.
Generate statistics as needed for improved program
Tune database parameters to improved performance
Manage Database Backup and Recovery:
Plan and execute backup and recovery process for production and non-production databases by utilizing Customer’s backup infrastructure.
Troubleshoot database backup issues
Perform database restore from backup as requested by Customer
Database High Availability management:
Provide support for database replication technologies.
Perform refresh/cloning/rebuilding of database
Create new database/instance;
Database software installation:
Estimate size and create directory structure on the server for RDBMS installation
Install and configure database software
