Summary

East Side House (ESH), founded in 1891, is a 501(c) (3) organization that has served the South Bronx since 1963. The organization is dedicated to the community and focused on providing resources and opportunities. East Side House has identified that education is the foundation for economic improvement. Our youth education and technology programs teach skills to allow students and clients to become more self-sufficient and independent. As a community resource, the organization also provides services to families and a growing senior population. In 2020 the organization began food distribution as an additional way to provide economic support to the community we serve.

 

Jobs-Plus is a proven, place-based employment program designed to increase the earnings and employment of working-age residents in designated public housing developments or a cluster of developments. Jobs-Plus - Mill Brook Houses, is operated by East Side House Settlement and based in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. It offers workforce development, financial empowerment services and community building programming to over 3000 residents. With a recent 3-year contract renewal, Jobs-Plus is looking to expand on the services provided to residents since 2013. This expansion will include heightened focus on training and education as well as career advancement services.

 

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Clinician responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

 

Primary Functions

  • Complete initial needs assessment with participant/family.

  • Build relationships with participating clients through consistent individual/group counseling sessions or mediations.

  • Develop plan for interventions and will include, but not be limited to, gathering information from program leaders, staff, and members.

  • Use validated tools to screen consenting members for mental health symptoms and re-screen members at appropriate intervals (which will vary, based on population needs and the interventions selected) to identify changes in symptoms and adjust clinical services.

  • For psychoeducation, facilitate one-on-one sessions and/or group sessions, based on the evidence-based intervention selected.

  • Provide clinical counseling services for Jobs-Plus members, on site at the Jobs-Plus program. On-site services would be delivered in a manner that ensures privacy and confidentiality for those receiving services.

  • Provide community referrals for Participants and family as needed. Follow up on referrals to determine outcomes and help resolve barriers. Provide linkage between participant/family and community resource.

  • Provide clinical counseling and connections to additional treatment as needed. Conduct home visits when needed.

  • Make recommendations related to methods to promote engagement to increase program participation.

  • Ability to maintain a HIPAA compliant professional work environment.

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents and their families and aids when needed.

  • Completes appropriate paperwork and recommends improvements and more efficient ways of operating the department.

Expected Work Schedule

This role is a Full Time (35 hours weekly), expected to generally work Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m and rotation of first Saturday of every month (10PM-3PM). Workdays/hours subject to change based on ESH's needs.

 

Remote Work

ESH has determined that up to zero (0%) of this position can be remote due to COVID-19. Subject to change as public health conditions evolve.

Supervisory Responsibility

None.

 

Work Environment

Business casual. This job operates in a school office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel

Minimal expected for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This role is generally a sedentary role; however, some sorting/filing is required. Requirements include the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience

  • Must have extensive knowledge of family systems, family therapy, and behavioral interventions should have at least five (5) years of clinical practice experience services.

  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) or a licensed psychoanalyst.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, think critically, problem solve and self-motivate

  • Ability to work in a team environment collaborating effectively, efficiently and respectfully

  • Must possess a positive attitude, be highly articulate and professional

  • Strong computer and software application skills.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to represent the organization in dialogues with other agencies and community meetings.

  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of community service/development.

  • Strong computer skills and technological experience including Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, etc.) Google Suite (Google Classroom, Docs, and Sheets) and similar programs

 

Required Clearances

COVID Vaccine As a recipient of Federal, State, and local funds, all staff are expected to be fully vaccinated or able to obtain vaccination before their start date
