Virtual Primary Care Physician (Remote/Part-Time)

First Stop Health (FSH) is in search of part-time physicians to join our Virtual Primary Care team. FSH’s mission is to help our employer clients reduce their overall health claims spend by serving their members virtually, keeping them away from in-person medical care when possible. Our primary care physicians will treat patients virtually, via phone or video call, serving their episodic, chronic, and preventive care needs. 

When appropriate, we are able to send patients for in-person lab work or imaging. Please note that no coding or billing is required for the virtual visit since FSH does not submit claims to insurance. Doctors find our web-based platform very straightforward and easy to navigate. Malpractice insurance is provided for encounters on our platform.

***This role would require 10-20 hours per week and shifts are flexible based on preference.  The Virtual Primary Care hours are 7:00am to 7:00pm CST, Monday through Friday*** 

General responsibilities include:  

• Assess and diagnose patient needs and presenting symptoms via phone or video 

• Review and confirm patient medical history, current medications, medical conditions, and allergies 

• Order labs, imaging, and/or refer to an in-person specialist when further care is necessary 

• Analyze lab/imaging results and clearly communicate any next steps to the patient via follow-up appointment 

• Prescribe medications if and when necessary; swap brand-name medications for lower-cost generics when clinically appropriate* 

• Assist patients in managing chronic concerns, and advise on lifestyle regimens such as proper nutrition, exercise and stress reduction

• Maintain accurate patient records and encounter notes 

• Operate as part of a care team to ensure patients are cared for in a timely, efficient manner 

Requirements: 

• Board certification in family or internal medicine 

• Active licenses to practice in at least 5 states 

• Willing to become licensed in additional states on an as-needed basis 

• Bandwidth to commit at least 15 hours/week to FSH 

• Passion for using technology to increase access to and affordability of care 

• Enjoy building trust and rapport with patients and maintaining those relationships over time 

*FSH physicians are not able to prescribe controlled substances such as opioids or medical marijuana.
