Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and innovative Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Genomic Data Analysis and Bioinformatics team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in bioinformatics, particularly in the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge genomic projects, applying their expertise to analyze and interpret complex data sets. While experience in NGS panel design and a clinical understanding are desirable, our primary focus is on bioinformatics proficiency and the ability to manage, analyze, and draw insights from large genomic datasets.
Responsibilities:
Bioinformatics Pipeline Development: Lead the development and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data analysis, including variant calling, genome assembly, and annotation.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Perform complex data analyses to identify genetic variants, interpret their potential clinical significance, and contribute to research findings.
Collaboration and Support: Provide bioinformatics support to research and clinical teams, assisting with the design and analysis of genomic studies. Knowledge of NGS panel design and clinical applications is desirable.
Training and Education: Develop training materials and sessions to educate staff on bioinformatics tools and methodologies. Ability to explain the principles of NGS panel design and its clinical relevance is a plus.
Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest bioinformatics techniques and genomic research. Contribute to innovation and improvements in genomic data analysis.
Cross-Functional Projects: Engage in cross-functional projects, offering bioinformatics insights and support. Experience in panel design and understanding of clinical contexts will be valuable.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Masters degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
Proven experience with bioinformatics tools and databases, and a strong background in genomic data analysis.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R).
Experience with Linux-based high-performance computing environments.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex datasets.
Desirable: Experience in designing NGS panels and knowledge of clinical applications of genomic data.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
