Job Description:

The Louisiana State University School of Theatre invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Costume Design, with an appointment to begin August 2024. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teaching coursework in costume design and other areas as needed; supervising and mentoring student designers; contributing to the ongoing development of graduate and undergraduate design/technology curricula
  • Designing for both the LSU Theatre academic season and Swine Palace professional productions; assisting the costume shop manager with construction and management of costume shop as needed 
  • Maintaining an ongoing professional presence at the regional and national levels; and contribute to the research, artistic, and educational environment at a Research I, flagship university
  • Provide service and participate in faculty governance

Required Qualifications:

  • an MFA in costume design or equivalent
  • Professional experience; excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills; proficiency in collaborative process; and knowledge of costume crafts (including dyeing and painting) and makeup.  

Desired Qualifications:

  • Teaching at the undergraduate level and the ability to teach at the graduate level, as well as experience in film and digital media.
