Chief Technology Officer

This is a remote position.

Aveni is an award-winning FinTech company that specialises in Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions for Financial Services. Our team of world-leading scientists and engineers have developed an NLP platform that extracts context from customer conversations. This powers a range of transformative product features, including an AI-powered advice assistant, Consumer Duty management, automated compliance monitoring, the identification of vulnerable customers, enhanced consumer insights, and performance management of call centre agents and advisers.

We are seeking a hands-on, dynamic, and visionary Chief Technology Officer to join our management team and lead technology initiatives from scale-up to exit. The ideal candidate may already be operating at CTO level or alternatively be a Head of Engineering, looking to take the next step in their career.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the overall technology strategy, guiding processes from the software development life cycle to technology choices and project prioritisation.

Team Growth: Lead the growth of our engineering team by hiring exceptionally talented professionals across engineering, machine learning, product, design and operations. Nurturing talent and fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.

Risk Mitigation: Ensure the mitigation of relevant security, privacy, and business continuity risks, operating at the highest standards when handling sensitive customer data.

Financial Management: Manage the budget for the entire technology organisation, optimising resource allocation to meet strategic objectives.

Client Engagement: Present to clients, investors, board members, and other stakeholders, emphasising the importance and value of enterprise partnerships.

Project Management: Demonstrate excellent project management skills, running efficient projects with measurable success metrics.

Platform Architecture: Define and oversee the platform architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

Software Engineering: Provide hands-on guidance when needed to address critical engineering challenges.

Requirements

• A technologist mind set with an awareness of current trends and innovations and how to leverage these to improve our products.
  
• Proven experience delivering SaaS products to large enterprises.
  
• Track record of scaling multi-disciplined teams in an enterprise-focused start-up environment.
  
• Experience deploying production-standard machine learning technologies.
  
• Extensive knowledge of AWS and familiarity with other cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure).
  
• Operating at the highest security standards, with a focus on handling sensitive customer data.
  
• Previous experience operating at senior management and board levels.
