Sommelier
Position Summary:
Timely handling and resolving of guest complaints concerning sommelier activities andinforms Beverage Operations Manager.
Ensures good stock control and accurate charging to accounts.
Responsible for monitoring the inventory of wine glasses, utensils and bottles ensuring all wine glasses and utensils are always in pristine condition.
Ensures a professional service is delivered to sailors at all times and personal appearance and uniform are kept to company standards.
Is familiar with all cruise services/features and activations to respond to Sailor inquiries accurately.
Works to maintain company safety, hygiene and sanitation practices at all times and maintaining cleanliness of all areas up to USPH and company standards.
Prepares pre-orders of wine and ensures they are on tables in preparation of service.
Follows the Responsible Service of Alcohol policies and procedures and discreetly informs the Beverage Operations Manager if a sailor has consumed in excess.
Key requirements:
Minimum age for all applicants is 21 years.
Must have clear criminal record.
Must not be on any chronic medication and have clear medical history.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum 3 years experience as Sommelier/Wine Waiter onboard a Cruise ship or 4/5 star hotel/resort.
Excellent organizational skills and able to juggle several operations in one go.
WSET Level 2 in Wines and Spirits or recognized Wine Qualification.
Demonstrated experience in motivating, leading and engaging a diverse workforce to increase synergy and improve productivity.
Excellent presentation skills for training programs.
Administrative skills to manage training program.
