Reference and Instruction Librarian at Albany Medical Center

Responsibilities

• Provide basic reference service with in-person and remote users.
• Perform searches in library supported databases using appropriate strategies to produce concise meaningful results.
• Continually develop expertise and participate in continuing education activities, including self-directed learning related to responsibilities.
• Teach and support use of electronic resources and library-based technologies, maintaining currency in application functionalities to provide best practice recommendations.
• Organize, prepare, and teach educational courses, workshops, sessions, and curriculum-related programs for Albany Med audiences on library resources and services and related technologies.
• Identify opportunities for programs and classes to engage faculty, staff, and students through education outreach and instruction.
• Foster the delivery of quality customer service and continually seek to improve.
• Participate in institutional and professional committees, activities, and services.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in library or information Science from an ALA accredited program.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong service orientation.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One or more years of academic library experience, preferably in a health science library.
• Demonstrated knowledge of database searching.
• Proven ability to provide in-person and remote instruction.
