Job description

Job Title: Technician- Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico (can work remote in other cities in Mexico)

Reporting to: Project Engineer, Project Managers, CAD Manager on day to day basis

About Role: We are looking for college interns to work within our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team as part of building design. This role will provide the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative and exclusive projects that IKERD are involved with globally. Candidates would need to work 15-30 hours per week. This is for current or soon to be graduating students in a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Learning programs such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit Structure, and Faro Scene
  • Assisting design in drawing production and prepare them for commercial building projects.
  • Review project files for compliance with Standards/protocols
  • Learn laser scanning for 3D model creation of buildings
  • Assisting engineers in research on commercial building projects
  • Produce accurate 2D drawings, 3D models
  • Helping to technically deliver CAD/BIM projects in the role of technician
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and able to work alone or with a team

Qualities and Skills:

  • Desire to obtain the Certificate of Development in BIM, Part 1 certification (CD-BIM.com) is a plus.
  • Have a working knowledge of 1 of the following disciplines: Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or Civil.
  • Interested in learning other areas of the building industry beyond the discipline they know.
  • Experience working in the commercial building industry is a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to take responsibility in a proactive approach to daily task
  • Flexible attitude

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013 or higher. Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Relevant training will be given to suitable candidates.
