Integrated Services (IS) will create software enabled and subscription-based always-on customer experiences within Retail and Commercial business segments of Ford Motor Company. Integrated Services (IS) Software or “IT” organization will focus on non-Vehicle based software solutions, business application development, marketing technology, and e-commerce solutions focused on digital services and subscriptions . The IT organization will also focus on integrating vehicle related activation functions as necessary and developed mutually by IS Product Organization **

In this position...**

The SDET Manager will lead a centralized team for all Quality initiatives across business lines and develop automation functional quality assurance frameworks for Mobile, Web, and backend APIs. The SDET Manager will actively own automation architecture and strategy across the team while running and developing a team of SDETs and manual testers. **

Responsibilities**

What you'll do...

  • Actively own performance of your team through regular meetings, and technical mentorship
  • Prioritize automation and manual testing tasks across applications under test (AUT), regression suite management, and provide guidance to the applications teams on risk-based automation.
  • Run and develop a team of SDETs and manual testers while directly mentoring and growing their careers.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Management on team-wide automation initiatives and quality process improvements.
  • Lead scrums for automation sprint achievements
  • Own and deliver automation testing roadmap in collaboration with Engineering Managers, and Development teams.
  • Make hands-on contributions to the planning and execution of test automation.
  • Provides QA input in all aspects of the project, including technical design review and development activity
  • Functional QA automation tool and environment selection and fit-for-purpose tooling to improve management of test suite(s). Experience leveraging modern Testing as a Service and Cloud based web and mobile (simulation and emulation) tools is a plus.
  • Participate in problem solving sessions with development team including supporting of RCA and QoS problems.
  • Experience developing performance and load/stress testing programs and tooling for scaled products and services.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to SDET team members to ensure project milestones are met and that activities are handled in accordance with project standards
  • Manage integration of automation tooling into existing CI/CD pipelines (for lower environments).
  • Work with engineers and engineering managers to resolve any issues and barriers within the larger team that impact the quality of the software system.
  • Ensure timely integration and regression testing during sprint plans.
  • Leads the implementation of new technologies that are in line with quality initiatives.
  • Guides the development and documentation of quality practices.
  • Communicates resolution strategies, strategies, expectations, and specific tasks with development when applicable.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation standards are followed for technical tasks in accordance to the appropriate SDLC guidelines.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • 7 + years of Software Engineering and/ or SDET experience
  • 3 + years of experience as a SDET Leader or Manager
  • 2 + years of hands-on experience developing automation solutions for mobile, browser, API or server in cloud based environments (GCP preferred).

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous and asynchronous interactions
