The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a skilled Intermediate Project Manager to join our Construction Services team. To thrive in this environment, you most likely possess a technical diploma or engineering degree, are familiar with construction materials testing and inspection services, and have experience in the road and building construction environment.

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution of projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) . Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity will be based in one of our GTA offices. **

A day in the life:

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with company objectives.
  • Set up and manage projects according to the various work instructions and directives, protocols and procedures arising from our health and safety systems, quality control and company policies.
  • Provide guidance, motivation, and direction to project team members in the areas of construction materials testing including soil compaction testing, field concrete testing, asphalt sampling / testing, and all aspects of testing and inspection quality assurance programs.
  • Coordinate field tasks, including tasks that involve multiple teams as well as subcontractors.
  • Be responsible for monitoring and controlling budgets, expenses and schedules.
  • Provide updates on project progress and forecast trends to the management team.
  • Interact with the accounting team to ensure compliance with client billing requirements, preparation of invoices, and assistance in facilitating timely payment.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and develop relationships with existing key customers.
  • Ensure all aspects of the project comply with nuclear industry regulations and standards.
  • Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on-site.
  • Be accountable to the health, safety, financial and quality objectives of the projects.
  • Assist in proposal writing and coordinate proposal contributors as appropriate.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • Engineering technology diploma or Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • More than 2 years’ experience in construction project management or materials testing and inspection project management.
  • Experience in projects related to road reconstruction, building construction, site grading, and overall site development is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Adobe Acrobat software.
  • Eligible for membership with OACETT an asset.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
