Job description

Reports to	General Manager/Assistant General Manager

Description	The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons and students in and around the pool area and preventing and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities	Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Prepares and maintains appropriate incident reports. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service. Performs various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. Prepares and maintains appropriate incident reports. Make sure the pool area is always properly supervised and attended in accordance to American Red Cross standards. Attends monthly in-services to continue to work on lifeguarding skills

Other Duties	Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements	Required: Keep and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant and child Previous swim instruction experience Must be able to successfully complete all Lifeguarding pre-requisites to American Red Cross standards Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs

Uniforms	Lifeguards are required to wear SafeSplash uniforms which include a white SafeSplash Lifeguard t-shirt/tank top and royal blue shorts/pants. SafeSplash Swim School will provide one t-shirt/tank top per calendar year per employee. Additional uniforms must be purchased by the employee from SafeSplash Swim School at or below cost. The uniform must be maintained in a clean, professional manner. If at any time a Supervisor determines an employee’s uniform is inappropriate he/she may require the employee to purchase an additional uniform. If at any time a uniform is not being worn during assigned instructing hours a supervisor will ask you to put on your uniform. If no uniform is present you will be required to buy a new uniform or be sent home without pay.
